LM.com Face Lift!
I just made an appointment to get my hair cut because it needs some style…badly! My blog was in a similar situation. It looked OK, but it just wasn’t working for me anymore! I’ve been reading/studying Michael Hyatt’s Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World since Christmas. I realized that while my site was visually appealing and well-organized, to my standards, it didn’t give a good representation of my purpose. At the time, I didn’t know my blog’s purpose. In order to find the purpose, I had to...

I’m very excited to announce that two of my songs were selected as finalists for the 2012 Nashville Connection Competition in Greenville, SC! The competition will be held on June 29, 2012 at the Marriot Greenville on the Parkway. Performance times have not been disclosed yet, but once I find those out I will surely let you know how to go about getting tickets! The two songs I submitted are “Man of Honor” for the songwriting category, and “Giving It Back” for the performance category. Check them out on the music...

I’m a huge fan Instagram, to the point where I check my Instagram feed before I check my Facebook newsfeed. It’s such a great app for people to explore the world of amateur photography, or in my case, very amateur. I decided to incorporate a gallery page for my own personal collection, and for anyone interested in looking at photography. Every once in a while I take a decent picture! Here’s the gallery! I’m also toying with the idea of merging my Tumblr blog with this website for good. I just can’t think of a good...

A couple weeks ago I was asked to do an interview for an alumni feature story in the quarterly newsletter, Expressions, a publication by the Brooks Center for the Performing Arts at Clemson University. It was great to reflect on my time at Clemson and share how it has shaped me as a musician and future educator during my time in graduate school! I love the College of Charleston, but Clemson will always be home! (Says the girl with the orange nail polish on currently!) Here is the interview if you would like to see it! The print publication...

Greetings! I have been a huge social media/web slacker lately, and my site really got…stale. So I finally gave it a face lift and changed some things around! First off, let me say that Elegant ThemesĀ is really cool. I have been stalking their themes for a few months now and became so greatly intrigued. I finally found the one I thought would suit me best and here it is! Now you will see that I don’t have a “central” blog anymore. Well, I think it exists but you aren’t linked to it! Instead, I have arranged it...

I know, I know…extreme neglect! Grad school is AWESOME…but SUPER BUSY. Good grief. I don’t think I had this much work in all 4 years of undergrad. I’m currently writing a 20 page paper on vocal resonance for my vocal pedagogy class, so I figured this would be an opportune time to take a break and tidy my site a bit. Here are a few current happenings, reminders, and future events in no particular order: If you are a Music Education major (undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral!) click on the 100MEMT link to get involved...

Andy and I are very excited to get more students tweeting about their experiences and participating in all of the music education conversations going on. Happy Holidays, everyone! I really love the holiday season. The music, the decorations, the seasonal beverages at Starbucks…everything. Sometimes a few angry drivers and traffic can ruin the mood, but for the most part I feel the Christmas spirit everywhere I go. It’s a season of giving and coming together. It can’t get much better than that! The season also brings preparation for the new year. 2011. Can yo believe it? I wrote about some of my new years goals in previous posts , and I’m really looking forward to...

Greetings! The year and semester are coming to an end, so I have begun to prepare for some new projects for 2011! It’s kind of like an early New Year’s Resolution, without it really…resolving…anything. New Years Goals, perhaps! First, to prepare for these projects I had to alter the appearance/navigation of my site. The page formerly known as “Musical Background” has been blended with the “About” page, only for consolidation and navigation bar space reasons. Some things will be added to it...
